I have absolutely no idea how to recolour the exported texture (of a door) in a 2D photo editing program. I am familiar with the programs I just don't understand how to make a recolour from this flat image. Can someone help or direct me somewhere where I can learn?

Brujah236 made a video tutorial that shows how to use a 2D editor to make a texture image and posted it in this thread: it is the third video tutorial on his list. Although that tutorial is for CAS the same principles apply to making any recolor using a 2D editor.

Hello thanks for the tutorial! I tried to recolor the baby crib but the baby does not appear, and when the Sim has a new baby, appears the original crib, although I have put my crib there. Can you help me? Thanks

I see this was posted before but no answer was given to the problem yet.
I made recolours of the Mod Pod Sleeper (only the bedding), the Soothe Light and the Minimalist drapes. I have followed every step of the tutorial, and added thumbnails. For the thumbnails I followed the same procedure as for recolouring a CAS item. But neither the recolour or the thumbnail show up in the game?
The recolours I made for the CAS item shows up though, as do the thumbnail.
I did the whole recolour twice and neither attemps works. What did I do wrong?

Hi anidup, the initial problem reported with the Mod Pod Sleeper was that the game generated thumbnail for recolors of it were showing up with a weird unwanted shadow on them. That problem was fixed before the Alice version was moved to the community stable position. Which version of Studio are you using?
When you say you added thumbnails which thumbnails do you mean and how are you adding them?
kiara24, the baby crib is a special object in that it has functions above and beyond the average object in the game. Recoloring it is something akin to recoloring an item like the cellphone all the Sims carry around and doing so would best be done as a default replacement. The alternative would be to make it a standalone item with custom code that makes it work.

Thank you for your answer. How should I do to be a default replacement?

Thank you for the quick response, Orangemittens.
I am using the latest Alice version of the studio.
By thumbnail I mean the one in the texture 'window' with the colour or smaller picture of the recolour used. When I made a CAS recolour (of a tshirt) the thumbnail showed up in game correctly. But when I use the same procedure to add a thumbnail to identify the recolour it does not show. Neither can I find any recolour. I recoloured the bedding only for the mod pod sleeper, then also the Soothe light and minimalist curtains.
None of the recolours show up in game?

Hi kiara24, Studio is not yet making full default replacements although it will be soon. Once it is I will write a tutorial showing how to use it for this purpose. There is no supported and updated custom content tool I know of to use. You could try using s4pe but that tool is unsupported and has not had any significant updates in months. I can't vouch for how well it works nor can I recommend its use.
anidup can you post the objects you've recolored that aren't showing up in the game?

I recently recolored the Blandco Contemporary Counters, Islands and cabinets. I used Sims 4 Studio like always and PhotoShop C6. Everything came out great until I put them in game. When they are on the lot my sims get stuck and become unplayable even though everything else keeps going. Any idea what the problem may be?

Hi, Here is the link to the three items I tried to recolour. (Hope I have posted the link correct) Thank you for your help. Edit: Please ignore: I am feeling sooooo foolish!! I simply forgot I am creating a standalone version of the item! I was looking for my recolour in the EA version. Think I am still thinking too much about how it worked in sims2! Please accept my apologies..... but maybe someone else can also learn from my mistake!
