Limit total and Clean are two different tools. Clean must stay at 0, limit total is set to 4 by default
you must do this again. open the blend, select the ring, switch to Edit mode, select everything with A, Clean with All groups, Limit to 0. Then Limit total with 4

Okay, yeah, I just went through the weight transfer steps too fast, lol. Thank you so much! I'm gonna fix the texture, but that's the easy part. I'm all set!

None of the bones in the list affect the mesh. You may have forgotten to enable Vertex groups - make sure the top is visible and selectable; - select your ring, add data transfer; - top as source object; - enable vertex data; - enable vertex groups; - Nearest face interpolated; - no need to generate data layers this time cause they are already created; - apply

For some reason it didn't work the first time but did the second? Either way, it works! (Ignore the brightness, there's something wrong with the lighting in some parts of the house).
