Hi,

I've downloaded some CC recently and thought it would work better as a tattoo or skin/scar/cheek etc. detail. Basically, something that my sims can wear all the time not just when in certain outfit types. And I was wondering if there is a way to change maybe the category it is in?

Also, if there is, would this also help with nails and eyelashes from conflicting with each other? I use skin detail lashes so that they can work with glasses. But they don't work with nails or rings. The glasses category one do work with nails and rings, just not glasses. Is there a way to fix this? I have never made/edited CC but am willing to learn!

If I had to remake UV's and textures, how would I go about doing that? I have never worked with CC like this before. Would I have to get it from the CC creator?

This is not a beginner task, but here's an example on eyelashes:

How to re-categorize alpha eyelashes:

- in S4S main menu click on My projects, find the right package;
- press Shift Ctrl C to open the console, paste studio.exportall . All resources from this package will be exported into a folder, created in the same place as the package;
- open www.photopea.com/ . Click on Open from computer. Open this template;
- File - Open & Place, select all images named Swatch_x_Diffuse_1 from the folder with resources;
- select the last Swatch_x_Diffuse_1, Shift-select the first Swatch_x_Diffuse_1 to select all, group them;
- select this folder. Edit - Free transform. Put all textures in a new location. For example, i dont know a single item that uses Bicep L or Bicep R slots, so I'd suggest to put eyelashes there. Before you apply these transforms, write down or screenshot by how many % they were shrunk;
- Delete the template;

- File - Export layers, disable all three options. It may take some time, but you'll get a .zip file with all edited textures;

- look through other images in Resources folder. If specular or normal maps have textures in their original location, you need to move them as well. Bear in mind that specular is smaller than diffuse and normal is cropped;
- move all edited files into the Resources folder and overwrite original ones;
- open the first LOD from the Resource folder. File - Append - the second LOD - all s4studio_mesh_x, append. Do this with all LODs. Delete all rig.00x and bone_bone_shape.00x from the outliner;
- select the first s4studio_mesh_x in the list, Shift-select the last, switch to Edit mode, select everything with A in 3d view;
- in UV editor remove an existing background with x button, click on Open and choose one edited Diffuse texture;
- click on Show Overlays and reduce UV opacity dramatically so that you can see whats behind them;

- I shrunk the original texture by 45.64%, so it is 0.4564 in blender units. Press S, then type in this value. press G and move it where a new texture is. Using these shortcuts, align uvs with the image behind them;
- save this blend. Open the next blend, delete an existing s4studio_mesh_x, append the second meshgroup from the first blend, save. Do the same with other lods and their corresponding meshgroups, then open the first one again, delete all but the first one, save;
- open s4s and the package again. Open the console, paste studio.importall;
- if nothing happens, save, go back to the main menu, open the package again, it should update;
- since eyelashes have their own category now, switch to Categories, choose Mask detail as Outfit type, apply to all swatches.

I have been messing around with some lashes and got them re categorized to the new eyelash category, and they work in game. But, I am guessing that doesn't change the texture place. Does the new eyelash category also have it's own texture? Or should I just use the Bicep (L) or (R) textures as you explained above? Also, should I use the default or HQ Mod template or does it not matter.

Eyelashes have always been a part of a body and always had a designated area for them. As a result, all skin textures have this area filled. To display transparency, alpha eyelashes' uvs must be placed in an empty spot, away from the skin texture. So you put no-transparency eyelashes where they are meant to be and alpha ones in a spot that will not be used.

Items with simglass shader cannot overlap in-game because ts4 isnt programmed to render this situation, so alpha eyelashes cannot be used with glasses regardless, which is why everybody puts uvs in the slot for glasses.

Okay. So from what I am understanding is there is a a place but because it is attached to the face it would be hard to edit that mesh. That is why everyone uses a different UV space. The eye lashes I am trying to edit are Maxis Match ones but I am guessing it would still be the same issue regards of the style of lashes. So it is best to put them in the bicep place that way not issues? Correct? Also, when exporting the mesh there came up an error, but it still created the folder and gave me the Swatch_x_Diffuse_1 for all numbered swatches. Is this still okay to use?

No, you misunderstood.

In-game, when you put items on a sim, their textures stack in a pre-determined order.
If an item is see-through, it displays whats underneath. If the texture is located in the same place as the skin, the background is the skin.
If an alpha eyelashes texture is where lips are on the skin, instead of the transparent background there will be lips, for example.
To avoid this, the eyelashes texture must be placed where there is no skin.

"Maxis-match" refers to a style, not to whether eyelashes use transparency or not, unlike "alpha", which is a name of a channel responsible for transparency.
Most maxis match eyelashes are in fact alpha, unlike real maxis ones. So if that is the case for you, you put them in glasses or bicep spots.
If they require no transparency, then you put them in their intended location, unless they are already there.

Most likely your blender isnt configured correctly, so you cannot proceed.

Okay, sorry for the misunderstanding. I new to making custom content. So should I just put it in the bicep place. And do I need transparency lashes or ignore that all together? Hi, I know I am getting back to you late. But I am trying with a different eyelash mod and it is going good so far. However, when following the guide I am having trouble with this step:

I opened something labeled shared normal and it is a blank square. Is it suppose to be? The other was alpha lash textures like in the guide above.

I'm getting this Error alot, too, even with the latest Studio Star version. It has noting to do with your eyelashes. It can randomly happen with any package you open. BTW, you are using an older Studio version. 3.2.2.5 is the latest version.

Okay, I will update it thank you! It is okay for me to edit these textures as it still made an resources folder? Or should I not mess with it? I am sorry if this is obvious, I just have never made or edited custom content before so any help, helps!
