Hey y'all, I successfully converted another hair, but I have this strange problem where there's black spots on the ears as soon as I apply the hair. Would appreciate if someone could take a look on it. www.mediafire.com/?zzdaq1we6ryelr4

hi! i've checked the textures and mesh and i can't see anything conflicting in there. What i spotted is:
- the white swatch (i believe is the one you're showing) is missing the scalp texture. - the specular RLES image is very odd looking, i would re do it. i believe the issue is with that texture.

Hey inabadromance, I deleted the scalp texture on the white swatch on purpose for the RLES (that one that is parted in a mask and another thing) because I thought that would solve the issue. This is the specular mask, right? I really do not know why the right side of it has white alpha over it.

i'm not sure why it's looking that way. Possibly an error while saving it or the way you created both parts of the texture. It depends on the item, and since i've never worked with hairs, i'm not sure how it's supposed to look as far as shine goes.
- the .mask.dds one should only have the alpha texture and saved as dxt1 no alpha. - the .dds should have the shine color textures (with alpha), if you just want a plain black texture it won't shine. If you choose with alpha, it needs to be saved as dxt5. if not, dxt1. - Also there's no need for those two textures and the bump map to have such huge resolutions as long as it is 4x4. All those three textures can be 512x1024.

I will try and edit the mask texture manually.
What I mentioned is that the mask texture is not automatically created by saving the custom RLES Image, but rather by the actual item texture, which, in my opinion, should be the other way around. If that makes sense lol.
The reason why these textures are made with 1024x2048 is so they'll be functional with the HQ Mod (http://alf-si.tumblr.com/HQ_ts4_English).

FWIW, I've seen black notches like that when the shadow image has artifact on it. I've usually seen it around the neck area on garments but maybe this is affecting your hair item also. UntraditionalNerd wrote a minitutorial showing how to get rid of the problem if it's related to the shadow image HERE. Maybe that will help.

Thank you!!! I don't know why I'm so blind sometimes. :-X
My issues was the shadow image indeed. Instead of a white layer and a shadow layer, I made a shadow layer only. It works just fine now!
I really don't know what I'd do without you guys sometimes. :-X

i'm surprised the issue wasn't the specular! haha, but i'm happy you managed to fix your issue!
