Here is a solution that worked for me.
when i click on Launchpad I saw TheSims4 logo there in applications however when i go to Finder and click the applications folder TheSim4 Folder isn't there so I Copy TheSims4 icon from launch pad and paste it in the actual applications folder accessed from Finder then go back to configure location from S4S and clicked on that new shiny sims 4 icon in application that i paste there and it works fine

The path should be something like: C:/Users/[yourusernamethatidonotknow]/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/
Unless you have selected a custom path when installing TS4, then you should change it the custom folder you installed it in, by going to your settings and and fill in the right path.
EDIT: The path might be different if you didn't install it with english as the language. The Sims 4 part changes in the translated name of the sims 4. But Sims4Studio always looks for it in english, so because of the slight change in path due to language, will probably be the main cause that s4s won't load.
Example: I am dutch, and if i install ts4 in dutch, the path will be C:/Users/Myusername/Documents/Electronic Arts/De Sims 4/, while S4S will look for C:/Users/Myusername/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/ See the slightly altered path due to The translates into De in dutch.

In case anyone can't find this in the future, because I couldn't locate the Sims4app anywhere even when in search... if you go into the Origin app, go to Preferences, click on 'Installs & Saves' and then look at where it says Game Library Location, that is where it will be. Mine is something like /users/mycomputername/applications not to be confused with the actual applications folder! Hope that helps.

For MAC users: assuming your game is correctly installed in your Applications folder, right click on the The Sims 4 icon and choose Show Package Contents. Now open the Resources folder, and then the drive_c folder, and finally the Program Files folder. Inside this you will find The Sims 4 folder; you can open that folder to complete the path to Sims 4 Studio.

unable to find the sims 4. please configure your game path Not so long ago, i wrote a small guide on the paths. Click on the following link: S4S Path GuideLet me know if you still encounter any problems after reading the Guide and your problem still isn't solved.
The guide has two parts, a small explanation about how a different language then english will slightly alter your paths. The other part of the guide explains which path needs to go where and where its located.
This is however for the Windows Version of S4S.

I think I know a solution around this if its still haven't solved yet! I'm a Mac user and I used to have this problem too! so all you have to do is locate your The Sims 4 game application, and change its location to Applications on Mac, restart Sims4Studio and there it should fix the problem! I tried it and it works and I hope it works for you as well. I'm confused, could you explain more?

Just took me 30 minutes of searching for and then trying everything in this thread before finally stumbling on these actually helpful instructions. Thank you methuselah for providing accurate and succinct instructions.

I had the same problem but try this: open the sims game, then you'll see the logo on that bottom bar thing on your mac, the right click it (or you know tap with 2 fingers) then go to options, and then show in finder. the you should have a sims app in your finder that you can now drag to applications.

What you need to do is press the open tab, and then click the three dots next to the middle option, and go to applications, sims4 and open and it should work

When I opened Studio and it had the 3 different folder paths, I switched path that went to Sims 4.app to Sims 4 in a different Applications folder because for some reason there's like 2 different Application folders on my Mac and Studio and Sims have to be in the same one. I guess when you download applications and it has that quick way for you drag it to Applications folder, it puts it in a different Applications folder than if you went and searched for it yourself? idk but thank youu
