starrsims and anyone else having problems with GIMP: When you use the .DDS Plug-in you can't Drag and Drop the Files onto the Main Screen anymore. You have to IMPORT them from the Drop down Menu. I remember that drove me BONKERS when I first played with that plug-in.
I Miss MY DRAG AND DROP!!! (Sorry, slight Insanity.)
- Spaterz.
P.S. - Nice Tutorial, SamanthaGump.

starrsims, I'm sorry Gimp is not doing for you what it does for me. Instead of dragging and dropping, you can open the file too by pressing CTRL O and navigating to where you saved the file, or by using the search feature there and typing in the name. I know its so frustrating to do a tut and get stuck with something like that, so I really am sorry I didn't address that better. If this answer, or the others answers above mine, don't clear up the issue, let me know, we will get this working! =)
Lod48- Thanks for clearing that up, it's always worked fine with drag and drop for me, but bah, that is annoying that they changed it. Also, thanks for the kind words!

You're welcome! I may have to download paint.net and revise the tut. So glad you got it working though. =)

I didn't completely, I can't get my creation back into .dds format and back into Sims4Studio. Even with gimp, which Ctrl + O helped a lot.

starrsims, did you get the .png open in gimp? If you did you just need to export it as a .dds, and the parameters I discussed in the tut (BC3/Dxt5 and generate minimaps). That's the window which should pop up after you click to export it as a .dds. I'm not sure how it works with paint.net though.

GIMP and Photoshop both require a .dds plugin. Samantha's tutorial shows the settings to use for GIMP and Brujah's video tutorial goes over both Photoshop and paint.NET.

I have been wanting to do my own recolors for a long time, just did not know to use Paint Shop pro x7 (I have all versions prior as well). Thank you so much for this for I have been trying to figure out how to get Paint Shop to read dds files, thanks to this I just downloaded gimp.
