Introduction
This tutorial will show you how to easily change in-game text using Sims 4 Studio. The example shows how to change the radio stations that pop up when you click on a radio, but you can use the same method for many different mods. Please note, this tutorial shows how to make a default override.
What you will need
Sims 4 Studio v. 3.0.1.0 (Harmony) or above.
Instructions
1. Open Sims 4 Studio and click Tools in the upper menu bar. Choose String Table Lookup from the dropdown menu.
2.Type your search term into the search bar. You can limit your search to a specific language if you want. Click the Filter button to tell Studio to generate a list of all String Table resources with that term.
3. Select the String resources you want to include in your .package. Click the "Add to current package" button. If you want to search for more terms and add those to the same .package just type in a different term and repeat. Otherwise, close the String Table Lookup popup box and look at your new .package.
4. If your .package contains String Tables for languages you don't want to edit, begin by deleting those. Just select each one you don't want and then click the Delete button. You can use the Ctrl key to select many at once that aren't in sequence, and you can use the Shift key to select a bunch that are listed in order. Once you have just the language or languages you want to edit, click the line of the first one you want to change and click the Entries/Edit Items button.
5. On the left side of the Editing Entries popup, you will see all the strings that you have in the .package for this language. Click on one. On the right side, type your new text into the Value line. Change as many or as few of the strings as you want. When you're done editing, click the Save button.
6. If there are strings that you decided not to edit, be sure to remove those by selecting them and clicking the "Remove" button. Save after removing these. Be sure not to skip this step!
7. Repeat the process for any other language String Table resources you've added to the .package.
And that's it. When you're back on the main Warehouse page, click the Save button there and check your item in the game. This tutorial made changes to the in-game text you see when you click on the radio. Now my Sims can listen to the Blabbering Talking Heads station.
