Ok this is probably a stupid question but bear with me. I've read the tutorial but I can't figure out how to do the very first step since I want to pull my meshes from TS2. There are some rugs I would like to convert (and maybe eventually some wallpapers if I can figure the program out) but I can't figure out how to get the mesh out. Any help would be appreciated!

To get the mesh out of a Sims 2 item you need SimPe. Once you've downloaded SimPe then open the .package that has the mesh and export the mesh resource as illustrated in step 1 of this tutorial.

My problem is in actually tracking down the package I want. The items I want to extract are rugs but this is what I see when I try to track down the rug under decorative. I managed to find the rug in the giant Object files and extracted everything I could see related, but I still have no packages and not sure where to find the mesh. The two rugs are from Freetime and the SimsPE I'm using (which seems to be the newest one) is for Apartment Life so maybe that's an issue? I'm not sure where to go from here.

Hey, at least for the objects I have converted so far, the "Geometric Data Container" have the mesh/mesh parts and "Texture Image" or "Large Image File"(From maxis I found the bigger images there) have the texture images. Then you will select the meshes and images from each of the directories and click "preview" on SimPE to see if it's the part/image you want to export, since in images there are small and big ones, I always choose the big ones(Large Image File directory most of times) for better texture quality c: Hope I helped

I am *trying* :P to convert the TS2 Lucky Shrine. I have cloned it to the Whispering Wishing Well. In Blender I've hidden the face, plants, and water from the TS4 well inside of the little building. You cannot see the face at all in blender or in S4S, yet in game: He is still there! :S I have tried deleting the textures for the face, water and plants in the warehouse, thinking that it might render him invisible, but he is still there. Do you have any idea how to either hide or remove the face? I don't mind if the light that emanates from him remains, but I'd really like to be rid of the face. the file is * here*

Hi biguglyhag, this item is an unusual item that will need a Studio update for Studio to work with a full clone of it that includes meshes. Since it's a one of a kind object that update is low on the list of priorities and may not happen for awhile. What I would suggest is cloning something else and making it function how you want using a tuning mod.

Hi orangemittens , I'm sorry to bother you but I would love to convert some of my old sims 2 stuff and I've installed SimPe but it's not working and I can't figure out why. When I open the package I see the ressource tree but nothing happens when I click on them (ex. GMDC) The ressource list is not showing. I don't have the Sims 2 on my computer. Is it required ? I only want to extract textures and 3d models from my packages, not from the Sims 2. EDIT: Ok it seems that I need to put my question here before getting an answer by myself.. I'm looking to fix this for 2 days, and as soon as I asked here, I fixed it.. I didn't have the good SimPe version. This forum is magic

Hi! I want to convert a table from the Sims 3. I am wondering if I can use this tutorial for Sims 3 conversions too. Is it or do I have to follow a different process?

Hi emuzazas, welcome to Studio forums. The process is much the same but there are some differences. We have two back-to-back tutorials that go over the process for Sims 3. The first one, written by Esmeralda, is HERE.

Hi jessearisstorm, this tutorial is a start-to-finish tutorial and it shows how to make a Sims 2 to Sims 4 conversion from the beginning. I'm happy to help you but in order to do so you need to say what step you're on and what the problem is that you're running into on that step (preferably with an image showing the problem.) Without that information, I have no idea where you are in the tutorial or what could be going wrong.
