Hi jessearisstorm, this tutorial is a start-to-finish tutorial and it shows how to make a Sims 2 to Sims 4 conversion from the beginning. I'm happy to help you but in order to do so you need to say what step you're on and what the problem is that you're running into on that step (preferably with an image showing the problem.) Without that information, I have no idea where you are in the tutorial or what could be going wrong. Thank you very much for making this program and your helps. So um I want to convert a fridge which is sims 2 item to sims 4 but I don't even know how to use most of programs that you wrote :P asfjsfjsjd. Is there a video tutorial? So I tried to import the mesh that I made by blender but I bet I did it wrong haha. it gives me this error: prntscr.com/c8hyzsI re-tried all steps again so now, I am in 26. Put your mouse over the map and click the a key, to select all, and then click the g key to grab the vertices of your map. Slide your mouse to move the vertices off of the central map grid as shown. prntscr.com/c8ieviBut idk where to move it, didn't understand o-o I hope I did it right: prntscr.com/c8ihg228. The mesh you had selected will still be selected. Click the Shift key on your keyboard and right mouse click the other of your two meshes if you have two. By holding the Shift key as you select the second mesh you will be able to select both of these meshes at the same time. The second mesh which is being talked about is the EA Mesh? EDIT: Nevermind im giving up. I only ruin the item everytime i try. lmao. #isuck

Hi jessearisstorm, rather than giving up it might be better to start with a project that's a little bit easier. Converting an item is not the easiest place to start if you've never made anything for Sims 4 before. Have you tried doing a recolor or two first? I suggest starting there. Once you have that down I suggest moving to working on something like a painting for your first mesh project. They're much easier to work with than an item like a fridge. Refrigerator items have multiple bones and other parts that differ from standard objects.

Hi jessearisstorm, I have written a tutorial showing how to recolor objects. It's HERE. If you prefer to recolor a custom content item there is a tutorial for that too. All the Sims 4 Studio forum tutorials are listed HERE.

Just out of curiosity, would this tutorial work for door and window conversions?

The mesh groups pot and grass were from the Sims 2 item I converted to illustrate the steps. Since you're working with a mesh you made yourself, the mesh group will be named whatever you named it.

So, I have been successful at converting TS2 CC (with permission from the orig creator, of course) by following your tutorial! YAYY!! Another awesome tutorial again, OM! Thank you so much!
TS2 EA objects were actually not bad (sometimes hideously textured and almost always out of proportion, of course, which is normal for EA, but I've come to the conclusion, none of the mesh creators for EA have ever thought to import a sofa into their 3D program to size lamps and tables and other objects to keep them in proportion! LOL!)
Anyway there's some EA objects I'd love to convert to TS4. But, two different times, with two different objects, when I clone the object, there is no GMDC listed to export the OBJ.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for any help!

UPDATE: So, I am that person when something isn't working I have to continue searching for an answer! LOL, Anyway, I have no idea how or why, but it worked this time. I read a tutorial for a TS2 to TS3 tutorial for base game items and they said to uncheck all the check boxes before cloning, so I figured, why not. And, it worked this time. So YAYY!
Who knows, maybe I had it on Recolor and not Clone, but I was pretty positive that I did. But, I'm happy I can convert and revamp some fav TS2 items now!
