Not sure how possible it would be, but it would be awesome if there was a feature in Sims 4 Studio to easily change the way an object is displayed/generated in the catalog. For example making the catalog view of an object zoomed-in/out, nudging the object to the left/right/up/down… etc

Hello, is it possible to return the "Cancel" button next to "Save"? "Home" button is located to far and it's really irritating.

Hi, Andrew. When s4s is installed in protected places, people get an error about antivirus and logs. From my experience, antivirus no longer causes this problem, its the system. Could you change that error to prompt people to install it in the correct location?
If you need to imitate this error, you should be able to get it is you'll leave a portable version of s4s in Downloads

I really wish I didn't have to load the game to make icons for my swatches. Idk if I said that right. Example, if I recolor a red sofa and make it blue I'm not done. I have to load my package by starting up the game. Then look at my blank icon cc blue sofa. So it generates an icon for my cc. Then I have to reload S4S. Then I have to Export the icon that was generated by the game. Then I have to Import the icon and then save my package. I love S4S it has been a joy. But this one thing drives me banana cakes.
I wish S4S could generate the icons without all these steps. Any reduction in these steps would be appreciated.
I usually have around 20 recolors and I took days to perfect them working on teeny tiny itty bitty assets that turn most my recolors into blurry pixelated smush. By the time I get done and ready for the final process of getting these icons my back hurts.
Oh if you could just click one button and S4S could generate these icons itself without having to load the game up. And save them. All in one clicky. If wishes were pennies.

Hi, Andrew. As you may know, the dx11 thing broke walls. Would s4s be able to batch fix them by resizing? Or is this something ea should deal with on their part?

It affects some objects and tuning ui images as well. I hope EA will deal with it since the game has accepted images formatted this way for so many years, but I'll also do some testing with a batch fix even if it is only useful for people trying the dx11 pre-release.

Oh thanks for this post andrew, because I was just about to ask a question related to the dx11 stuff issue. So that means that only people who want to use dx11 pre-release are affected. Nothing to worry about for people who are not using it.

Nothing to worry about for people who are not using it. Yes. DX11 is currently an opt-in test feature in the game. If you don't opt-in, you shouldn't have any issues. Eventually, DX11 will be patched in for everyone and we don't know yet if EA will update their code to be compatible with existing images that are having problems in the pre-release or if we will have to update the images ourselves (through the batch fix I'm working on or manually importing new images).

Thanks andrew. All stuff that nobody really needs. Sure but why not. We don't have enough problems with the game already, right. These constant changes and trouble it causes us users, creators and Sims 4 Studio developer, is really insane. Reminds me of the unnecessary 32 bit chair changes we all had to go through

Would love to see a way to change the shader of a mesh group for all lod levels and swatches rather then having to go into each and manually change. Can get tedious fast

Can get tedious fast I second that! cause I have asked about that already in the past when I wasn't able to post here in Aug. 2021 HEREAlthough you can use studio.exportall, importall - export the swatch color palette, then delete all swatches, but leave only one. Then do all the mesh LOD's shader edits and after finish, re-import the swatch color palette to the package file and use studio.importall. The downside with this way is that the object gets deleted if it is already used in your builds.

Oh if you could just click one button and S4S could generate these icons itself without having to load the game up. And save them. All in one clicky. If wishes were pennies. You don't have to export nothing! Use the Studio function "Catalog Thumbnail Overlay" or "Catalog Thumbnail Underlay."
First create transparent images to use as "overlay or underlay" thumbnail icons
For object thumbnails: Open your image editor and create a transparent image/thumbnail icon with the power of 116x116. Then write your name/initials inside with small letters at the bottom/corner, (or add whatever you want), and save it to a preferred folder on your hard drive. After that open your cc recolor package with Studio and click the Menu-Tab TOOLS/Modding/Overlay. Navigate to your created thumbnail icon and click import. Studio will then use this thumbnail as an "Overlay" on all the in game created thumbnails. The same way goes for "Underlays" with a color thumbnail, for example. For CAS thumbnails: use the same creation method, but this time with a transparent image/thumbnail size of 104x148 and save to your preferred folder. Now you have two overlay or underlay thumbnails to reuse for your cc whenever you want You can of course create as many different versions as you like, as long as you stick to the sizes.

I would like to see the thumbnail batch fix have a toggle option to ignore certain types of CC where a thumbnail may be desired, namely -Walls, Floors, Stairs, Railings (?), and Foundations- removing thumbnails from these presents a red X image, the game will not generate a new one for you. The batch fix effectively "breaks" this CC and it should be disabled for them entirely IMO. -CAS items by category (Hair, Clothing, Makeup, Skin Details of All Kinds, and Accessories would be enough IMO), because certain CAS items benefit from or downright require thumbnails (usually skin details and makeup, sometimes accessories placed in unexpected parts of the body) and you may not want to remove them, and others don't need them at all (hair and clothing) and it's always safe to remove them. Obviously you can manually select files to batch remove thumbnails from but it'd be nice to do it to your whole folder with some options to ignore certain things, I guess.
Additionally, removing CC thumbnails does not work on files with a S4S Merged Manifest file in them. It would be nice to have the option to include those files or even batch remove manifest files, with a warning that you won't be able to un-merge said files if you do this.

Is it possible to have a batch fix where it makes all cc hairstyles work for all categories? I've collected like, 2 thousand hairstyles and to make them work for all categories one by one would take forever.

I recently noticed that in Star you can not sort the entries in the Tags section yourself. - Warehouse ->Object Catalog ->Tags - Edit Items... In Studio Wishes you can drag the position of the tags entries up or down by holding down the left mouse button. So if I want to sort the tags entries I have to use Wishes for this. It would be nice if this useful function could also made functional in Star. Thanks.
I'm having a similar issue, and when I want to reorder the warehouse tabs on the left window, I can't drag them anyway. I remember doing this before, so I always doubted my memory. Hopefully, the star version will sort your tags and my tabs. Thanks again to you who also raised this issue, and to the consistently great s4s workers.
