Hi every time I try to access My Library on S4S I get an error message, here's the message and thank you in advance for anyones help!

Have you ever had your game in a different language? Are these the same folders in different languages in C:\Users\Owner\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4?

No I've never had my game or folders in a different language however I would like to note that I've never been able to access my library with S4S since trying to for a year but I've always gotten a error message (not sure if its the same one) but this is the first time I ever said anything about it lol.

This may or may not help but you could go into your antivirus settings and allow Sims4Studio in your controlled folder access list. Sometimes, PCs like to block folders that should not be blocked.

These instructions are for Windows 10. Go into your settings, click Windows Security on the left side, click virus and threat protection. In the new window that pops up, click manage settings (it's under virus and threat protection settings). Scroll down and where it says controlled folder access click manage controlled folder access. Then click allow an app through controlled folder access. If you get an administrator prompt click yes. Then click the button that says + add an allowed app. Add the S4Studio.exe.

Hi and thank you for so much your help, unfortunately though this didn't work for me (again). I saw another thread some weeks ago asking about a similar topic and went down this rabbit hole of trying to figure this out and I tried this before and I also tried running S4S as an administrator. :-[

These things can lots of fun to figure out (/sarcasm). Studio has a folder in the documents folder. In it, there is a logs folder. What does the latest log file say? ~~And what's the link for the other message?~~ I'm searching to see if I can find an answer now. I'll let you know if I can figure anything out.

Edit: I'm not finding much. I know that on Windows 10 the documents folder is a protected folder and sometimes the apps you use that need to access that folder can't access it. This is why I mention the controlled folder access thing. You should make sure Sims4Studio has access to the documents folder regardless (do what I said about adding Studio to the controlled folder access list) just to be safe. I mean, it can't hurt. You should also add an exception for Studio in your antivirus if you haven't already.

The error message you posted said something about screenshots. Like, Studio can't display the screenshots? What happens if you remove everything from your tray and then try to access your library?

Another thing that occurred to me is that you have your files installed in the Origin Games folder. EA doesn't use Origin anymore so you could try downloading the new EA app and either re-install your games or move your games to its folder. The new file path would be C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 4. I doubt this is your issue, however. Just spitballing at this point.

One thing I noticed is that there's a settings.xml file in the Sims 4 Studio's document folder. If you open this file you'll see listed near the bottom the file path for your tray folder. You could double-check this to see if it's accurate.

I did take everything out of my tray folder like you said and I was then able to access My Library!

With the Origin Games folder I realized that too but I've been using the EA app and always wondered why it still says origin games and if its supposed to lol!

The xml is accurate.

I would also like to add that the reason being as to why I want to access my library with S4S is because for some reason in my game when random townies generate I will get sims from my gallery the only problem with that is those particular sims aren't in my gallery anymore and were deleted. I have 933 files in my tray folder and thought maybe they were still spawning because the tray files were still there and I was thinking that I could use S4S to figure out which tray files are which so that they could be deleted but I literally never asked anyone if that was even the cause or possible but I've been having this problem for quite some time and kinda just brushed it off lol!!!

Well, I'm glad you sort of got it working out. I tried renaming one of my .household binary files and I got an "object reference not set to an instance of an object" error. That's not the kind of error that you got, of course. But, it does make me think that one or more of your files in your tray folder was corrupted somehow. Maybe? I don't really know.

I wonder if it would be worth it to test out a batch of files to see which ones are giving you problems and which ones are not. The 50/50 method is great for narrowing down problem files. Mauvemorn explained it here, and there's a post here that explains it, as well. This method works well for custom content files but I don't know if it will help you with tray files as I've never had the problem you had and have never heard of anyone else having the same trouble, either. It's worth a try, I think.

Anyway, for what it's worth when I download anything from the gallery I usually make sure my tray folder is empty first, download a sim or house or whatever from the gallery, then I promptly zip all those files into an archive file and copy it to another folder (or another hard drive, preferably) just so I have a backup of the files. I also include a screenshot of whatever I downloaded so I can identify what the files are if I need to later on. It's really tedious but it helps me stay organized. The reason I'm telling you this is that if your files are corrupted or accidentally deleted you'll have backups that you can use. I learned to do this the hard way. I lost hundreds of Sims 3 files when my hard drive died because I didn't have the files backed up. Most of the files aren't online anywhere either. Poof. Gone for good. :( First-world problems, lol.

I tried removing my Trey folder contents, and nothing happened. I have never had the game in another language either. I tried following all troubleshooting steps but each time I tried to change something I would get the: An error has occurred. Please report this. Thanks

Can you try with the latest version, 3.2.1.7? There have been recent changes to this to skip over some unreadable tray items and bug fixes since the version you are using.

It is also not working on said newer version still, it still freezes. I'll try again right now.
I did it again and the Logs have not updated. It still only shows half of what I did last night.
I deleted what was in logs to see if that is the issue.
The logs is still empty. I am very confused.

There are no other ''Logs'' folders on my laptop.

I tried several more times to see if anything different would happen. This finally appeared in the Logs

It seems to not notice the fact I have to keep force closing it because it freezes, and I mean it Freezes. My laptop keeps prompting me to shut it down.

Hi meekame,
Is the location "C:\Users\[Username]\OneDrive\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Tray" mentioned in the log file the correct place for your tray folder? If it is, it may have something to do with OneDrive syncing, if not, update your Sims 4 Documents location in the S4S settings and try again. If none of that helps, try the 50/50 method removing things from the tray folder until it loads to isolate which file may be causing a problem.
