Hi, if anyone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.
I'm trying to either pose or animate facial expressions. I know this is possible
for animating cause I seen non-explained videos of people doing this but for some odd reason I'm not able too.
I don't know if there is an animating mode you gotta put your rig in but its a mystery to me. When I try to drag the
eye-lids and such it turns into a dragged out blob! An when I watch other people animate, the mouth dragging, eyebrow dragging, and eye-lid
dragging is so on point and stretching everything out in a balanced manner. I been creating a lot of poses and wanted to create a pose with expressions
or at least create a static animation pose (if it only works when animating). I have yet to find a page really talking about expressions when I see people pulling sim eyelids like crazy!
Lol, thank you for anyone who can get back to me. :-)

I'm not that experienced in pose making for Sim 4 (mostly did Sims3 Poses). It is a lot trial and error, much patience. Consider this: when smiling there are a lot of muscles in you face working. So that's really difficult. There are not so many joints in the rig. But what may help is KIJIKO's Pose Helper. It has a Eye Target control, real handy. Handles for up and low lid and a Head Target control. I put some pics so you can see it. Some good reference photo's might also help. Or feel with your fingers what happens when you smile. It's not just the mouth that moves, but also f.e. cheecks go up etc. Above mentioned in the post of SweetSorrowSims: you can use grab (g), but just tiny movements. Look at it from different angles. Kijiko's Pose Helper
I have to mention that the Pose Helper is sometimes tricky. I screwed up a couple of times. (just start all over again) But as you mentioned you are experienced give it a try. Hopes this helps you.

simslovelymenYou can use the "g" (grab) key to move any of the facial rigs. Also I found out using "rr" on the eyelids and eyes helps out alot with getting it to the perfect spot. If you need any more help on this matter let me know.

Hi, I have been using blender now for a while, but I can't understand how to dress a rig when you are posing.. I mean I can import a mesh, but it is stuck into other body parts, and these can not be posed... it is frustrating; I hope i can get some answers here

This may sound really dumb :/ but I honestly cannot seem to find the create animation part. I'm using the Sims 4 harmony update and have seen that you may need to download the vogue version? I found a link but it says I'm not allowed to access the content, does anybody know what I can do as I cannot even get past the first step. Thanks in advance! Don't worry, I figured it out!

meda02 you just append another mesh into your rig blend. Also why are you wanting to dress your rig?

EDIT/UPDATE Although I fixed it, I'm not quite sure what did the trick. One tip somewere here on the site there was a tutorial on how you could copy/paste in same Blender session. So glad that this worked for the second problem I encountered. After that I checked all poses. Looked good in Blender and tried them. They worked fine (you beat me if I know why but oké) One conclusion: it's a lot trial and error here.
I'm getting really frustrated. My poses (series Happy Birthday which I made for Sims 3 some years ago) were coming along great. Tested, took screenshots etc. So it worked first.
The difficulty is that this serie of poses are not situated on the same spot: first the mum and the toddler are in front of the couch before a coffee table on which is a birthday cake. Second pose is mum on the couch and toddler gets a sip. So on the couch. In Blender I imported a couch for positioning. Then standing (walking) with toddler on hip Poses 4 and 5 are on the bed. Totally different location. No problem here. Method I used was open blank pose, append the toddler rig. Make the pose. Save together on a different name. Opening this again and deleting first the mum, save the toddler pose. Opening once again and do the same, deleting the toddler etc. Poses worked (tested them) but yeah mum was standing in the couch. I knew that, but at first I wanted the pose right, then next the position. So I moved the mother and toddler rig with the root_bind. And now they are in game way apart from each other.
I did something wrong, but don't know what. Somebody can tell me that? Because the bed scene I did the same way, but they work alright.
Second problem is that I suddenly cannot move the rig of the mum anymore in Blender. I'm using the rig of KIJIKO. The control_rig works, the normal rig doesn't. Did something wrong here, but the question is what and how to fix it. Please help.

FranniezSimsYou have alot going on, without pictures I don't really know what is wrong. Your sims are not positioning correctly in game? If you post the package I can take a look at it.

sweetsorrowsims : Thanks, that is very kind of you. But I kind of succeeded to fix it (although I'm not sure how I did it). I finished the pose series and will upload them at MTS (perhaps if there are willing to have it) and on my Tumblr. (Or maybe here?) But I have another question. F.i. I when I use a already made pose as a starting point, saving it as it should I get a idle pose testing in game. So I use the workaround: opening the pose in Blender, copy the joints and in same Blender session open a blank pose and paste the former pose. When I save this next, it works all right testing in game. I don't get why, but my work around works and that's what counts. Anyway I don't have the faulty package anymore. I forgot to mention that it takes me several Blender sessions to get a couple pose right. And first it worked but after doing some more work this is what happened out of the blue ... and after I did something I don't know exactly it came out great. But I'm glad there are people willing to help one out.

FranniezSims I am glad you figured it out, and yes there are always people here to help you out when you're stuck here. Also definitely upload it here you can make your own creators studio, after all you did make it using this program, I'm sure people would love to see what you did with it. Tumblr is also a good resource to share your content.

Does anyone have a problem with Blender 2.70 crashing? I tend to multitask or leave the program running for a while. Sometimes, when I minimize the program or switch over to my browser, the Blender screen with everything on it becomes really small and is pushed to the top left corner. The program is unresponsive.
I'm tired of this happening. Is there a setting I can change that will allow Blender to run in the background or something? I do save it when I go to multitask, but sometimes I forget to, so I lose my progress.

@rosalisims I haven't had any issues with it as far as setting and I use 2.70, I don't think there is one for that in blender. This would be about all I know orangemittens or Mathcope might know more about this than I. Although I think this question should be asked in creator or discussion thread possibly to me it sound like you might be having not enough memory or ram space but I could be wrong. depending on your computer spec's and stuff.

I have plenty of ram on my computer, so... I don't know. Thanks for your response. Perhaps they know.

How do you manipulate the eyelids? Like closing them for a pose?

How do you manipulate the eyelids? Like closing them for a pose? I find that it's easiest to right-click and hide the things that I don't use first (by pressing h). I'll leave the eyes and upper eyelids, but I hide everything else (in the eye regions) to make it faster/easier to get to the upper eyelids again. You'll need the upper eyelids selected by right-clicking on them. Then, if you press "r" and then "x," the eyelids move straight down. You're just rotating them downwards.
