I don't know if this is possible or if it has been mentioned before, but it would help to be able to upload several DDS files automatically (like point to a folder where the new DDS files are stored and batch import them into swatches). Perhaps also auto-detecting colors to classify them by color as well (in CAS tags and swatches)?

BG compatible African Headwrap
(Conversion of EA Store's mesh originally converted and edited by ModishKitten) (with much help from indiaskapie who did the most important part of the work) Previews:In 30 African patterns (including Ankara, Mudcloth, Shweshwe and Kente patterns you will have seen in previous projects) and 26 solid colours specifically referenced from African textile samples (that happen to look gorgeous on black and brown skin). It clips with some hairstyles, and looks best with short hair. If you like, please do me a teeny favor and send me an ask or personal message with 3 digits - your favourite pattern (e.g. P03) or your favourite colour (C16) so I can keep on record what patterns and colours are the most popular to use them more often (you can choose several if you like). I dedicate this little retexture to fuyaya who is an amazing cc creator, a wonderful person and also is so helpful and kind to new custom content creators. Characteristics:Basegame compatible, mesh included Random disabled Found under hat (brimless) Custom thumbnails Available for all genders, though it is under feminine style Teen to Elder, everyday, party, formal, event, retail All LODS available TOU: Please do not claim as yours or re-upload (especially to pay sites), please give credit where credit is due, do not include the mesh and link to my original post on my tumblr here if you want to recolour it, especially since updates or fixes may be necessary at some point. I have also uploaded a Photoshop recolour template with instructions HERE (it includes a custom made shadow layer and texturized layer). Also, please be respectful of African people and culture and use this headwrap accordingly. You may tag me ( theafricansim) if you wish, I would love to see and reblog what you create. Credits: EA and ModishKitten for original mesh ( here) indiaskapie for converting it for me African textile artists who created the original textiles Sims4Studio, Photoshop, Blender and my wonderful and talented friend voidfeather for moral support, Blender guidance and game testing. CC used in pics:
Skin, some skin details and makeup by xmiramira, other make up and skin details by pralinesims, earrings by xelensimblr, eyes by Alfsi and S4Models , facial hair by LumiaLoverSims, eyebags by Tamosims, ladies' clothes by me here, gentleman's top by shespeakssimlish, nails by Natalis.
Please let me know if you have any issues! It is my first item release where I converted it to be basegame compatible and edited the UV texture, so some things may need fixing / tweaking. If you just want one of the packages (both contain the mesh), - MK conversion African Headwrap - Solid colours - Dropbox link HERE (no ads) - MK conversion African Headwrap - Patterns - Dropbox link HERE (no ads) and recolour template with instructions HERE. Thank you Bakie I made a face paint for the first time and it worked! When it's tweaked to near perfection I'll upload to the gallery and tag you if you want. It was a very helpful tutorial.

First of all thank you orangemittens for this tutorial, I followed this combined with a few others and finally on the Day of the Dead gave birth to my very first Frankenmesh. YAY! I am so happy I could frankenmesh all night. However, I have two very small issues (really minor, considering it's my first), but still, I want to improve, and in case anyone has similar issues, I'll post my queries here. In my case, I wanted to make a Tia Dalma (from Pirates of the Caribbean) outfit, so I joined the base game corset outfit, a nude top (to get rid of the straps and some other bits) and the sleeves from the witch outfit from Spooky Stuff to make just a corset top. It turned out well, BUT: 1. The top "edge" of the sleeve gets its texture reference from an area below the waist, so if I block that area out, then the border reflects whatever texture is on the chosen skirt or pants, as below; I tried adding the sleeve trim section from the original Spooky Stuff map (from the full outfit) and the sleeve gets "fixed", but of course now I have a weird cesarean window going on below lol. As you can see below the sleeves no longer mirror the skirt. How do I go about remapping this? 2. I have a slight shadow, not very noticeable, and not particularly ugly (it actually makes sense that a corset would affect the surface of a skirt)... I'm guessing I should edit the mesh for this? Or the shadow file? Well that's it... really I am happy with the result in general, it's still wearable, but I would appreciate knowing how to fix it! Thank you all in advance.

Kay_Sims I would suggest opening the package in S4S, in the Warehouse tab, find the DST image (listed under type) and export it, then also find the RLES2 image that looks like a grey-and-white image and export it too. The DST image is like a bump map that adds more detail, and the RLES2 image adds shadows. Then edit them as you wish. I followed this tutorial and didn't have any major problems, but perhaps like you initially the UV maps for shadows and bumps didn't match, so what I did was export the one from the model I cloned it from and paste into place the one I wanted, then edited the alpha layers (that regulate transparency) accordingly. I'm sorry if this isn't very clear (I just managed to do this tutorial today so I'm a newbie too), let me know if you have more questions.

wintersoldier yes I know about the Spanish surname! People tend to classify me as Hispanic rather than Asian because of my second last name - I cannot say it is completely wrong as I do have some very, very distant Spanish blood, but it's much more realistic to say that I have dark hair and tan skin from being part Filipina, not Spanish. Also I found it mildly irritating that since I live in Spain and here it's custom to add your mother's last name, which is Hispanic in origin ( Martir, in my case), the Spanish teachers CORRECT THE SPELLING - as in, OK, I understand that here you write it "Mártir" and have done so for centuries, but the fact that your ancestors came over to rape mine does not give you the right to override the fact that my people, though we have inherited and appreciate many things from Spaniards, are under no obligation to keep it "as it was originally", on the contrary, it's normal and morally correct to modify the colonial impositions to comply with our cultural heritage/preferences. But it's a minor issue, I don't get mad about it, I just state it. I learnt something interesting yesterday I wanted to share with you. Quite a few of the concept artists on EA for TS4 are Filipino, as follows (I wonder if this is his self sim): 1) Deiv Calviz, who worked on basegame clothes and kitchen: His website is HERE. 2) He worked alongside Alex Flores, another Filipino, this is also something they worked on together: He also worked on Sims 3 Medieval, you can see some of his work HERE. 3) From her name and the fact she is based in Makati, Philippines, I believe Gizelle Karen Baluso is also Filipina, she worked on some basegame rooms too: A link to her gallery is HERE. 4) I would guess that Roman Pangilinan is also Filipino, but I am not sure. He worked on Luxury Party and Spooky Stuff, here is some of his work: There is a link HERE to his blog. I'm sure there are more. I did see lots of other Asians working, Albert & Kim Truong (I'm so grateful for the Star Wars stuff they did), Vance Wu, Josephine Liang (I love the industrial kitchen she did), Stephanie Lew (Movie Hangout furniture textures, Windenburg concept art)... Yeah, I did my homework I wanted to know who made the stuff I like and give them tribute - it's nice to speak to SimGurus, but I believe the mainly unnamed artists deserve at least the same, if not more, respect and honor. Also, it would be nice for them to get recognition in case they can get a promotion, or if they are currently out of work, to get a good job, so employers know they have a following/appreciation for their work.

Hi GeometricSims! I'm going to share a tidbit of my personal journey with you: when I was very young (and a little ignorant), there was no one with my background and me being shy, lonely and eccentric so I kind of made up the idea that being mixed race was in some way "better", as if it were an "improvement" or "enrichment" - it was a self-defense strategy for low esteem, but at the same, as I matured (a little), I realized that was ALSO prejudice - because people who come from one "single" ethnic or cultural background are not better or worse, it is totally beyond their control. The only thing that remains connected to the idea is this (and even this is cannot be generalized, each person is different): 1) if your ethnic/cultural background is quite clearly defined, you will probably not have cultural identity crisis at an early age, and have a slightly less chance at feeling rejection if you live within that background and with a minimally "functional" family. So life is better in that regard - at the same time, there is a slightly less opportunity to grow and think out of the box, as you tend to think that what you know is what is "normal" - though as you mature, you can change that. 2) if you are from a mixed background, you will question at some point where you belong to as to cultural/ethnic identity (i.e. early identity crisis) and be classified to a certain extent as an outsider by some people (not necessarily aggressively, just that people don't know how to "classify" you in order to "treat you" according to their preset behaviour". So So although there may be a little more loneliness or rejection, there is also the chance to grow very fast and appreciate different things (i.e. different beauty standards, different languages or religions) at an early age. Bottom line, each has advantages and disadvantages - everyone has their "throw" of the cards, but it's what you MAKE of the hand you are thrown, that's where the FUN and GAME resides. I wish you much luck, discovery, joy and truths in your personal journey.

Thank you gatochweg I like the industrial/old fashioned cc you've shared. Unfortunately I couldn't make the two Dropbox links you placed for the walls work here (your tumblr ones work though), perhaps you may want to update the links here. Thank you so much for sharing!!

Just a thank you note and question to esmeralda - I list ethnic hairs and I would like to thank you for the electrical dreads, cornrows, afro for small people, etc you created, and just ask that if you ever re-upload your work to another place I would appreciate if you let me know so I can update the links to support you directly? Also, I noticed you posted templates to recolor too - what TOU do you/MTS have then? If someone wanted to share recolors would they have to put them there, include the mesh, or what? Sorry for all the questions, and thank you for still being around! I won't go into detail with MTS, I haven't uploaded there though I have got some nice things there, met some nice creators, but queries I sent never came back answered and I don't see them as very flexible, it gave an eerie feeling to host stuff there so I never did.

Hi xmasqueen I assume you mean the clothes works out fine, it's just the thumbnail that has the red x. In my case, it happened to me when in Sims 4 Studio I had done one of the two following things: 1. deleted the automatically generated thumbnail for the item 2. not arranged a thumbnail properly for the opposite sex - I' m not sure about this, but I think where it would have been enabled for the opposite gender (as in, not gender restricted) but would be under just one "fashion choice" option. I think I reset the game thumbnail cache (more info here) and redid the thumbnail myself in Photoshop and put it in through S4S. If you have no idea which cc is causing the problem, my trick to find that out is to have Sims 4 tray importer installed (I don't have any problems with it, you can get it free from HERE), then go in game to make the sim wear it even if it is invisible (remember his or her name), save it to your gallery. Then in Sims 4 tray importer try to "Export Sim with cc" and it will tell you all the cc you had used to make it, hopefully it will ring a bell and you can go in to the exact package, and then fix it, or re-download it and replace it (it's always a good idea to check with the creator if there is an updated, fixed version). I didn't explain all this very well, just wanted to give you the general idea, let me know if you want me to explain any particular step further. Good luck and hugs.

Hey wintersoldier as you may have seen I'm partly Pinay too. I can help you with recolours if you want (the first recolour in my studio has a batik bed, sample number 14 here) - meshing I don't know so much about but there are some really great tutorials and wonderful helpful people ( HERE a list of tutorials). I also made some Muslim attire (kufi/taqiyah, etc) in my studio - my Pinoy family is mainly Catholic but I have many Moro friends. What Filipino languages do you speak? I only understand a bit of Tagalog and love listening to Chavacano because it is so similar to Spanish (which I do know) but my family speaks Ilocano and Visayan besides Tagalog. What Filipino cc would you like to see? I'm happy to make the traditional Baro or butterfly dress for example, and there are some very nice tropical walls by Mara I recommend if you are a builder. Btw I do use coconuts for everything, wear tsinelas and lip point like the best of them. And welcome to the forums. I kinda liked what Ali Wong says, there are "fancy Asians", a.k.a Japanese, Chinese, Koreans, and then "jungle Asians" like Filipinos, Malaysians, Cambodians, Thai... People tend to think of the first group as whiter, more technical-minded and anciently elegant, and associated to cold weather, whereas "Jungle Asians" are connected to Tropical Islands, grass skirts, primitive lifestyles and dark skins, but we have some really great traits too - we're extremely resourceful, tough survivalists, more brainier than one would think and there is a cultural enrichment that is really unique. No one group is better, and it's not always a good idea to generalize races or nationalities, and aside from all of that I'm proud to be part Pinay.

Screenshots of the other swatches: TheAfricanSim's West African Wedding Dress (BGC)It's my most complicated recolour-retexture yet as every single fold and section was individually mapped/planned/tweaked/painted, but I would expect nothing less for an African wedding dress that so often is hand stitched and exquisitely designed. There are 3 swatches - "Jacqui" - dedicated to PedanticBohemian who is a wonderful friend and loves fan textiles, "Danielle" dedicated to my lovely birthday twin Ebonixsimblr , and "Nkiru" dedicated to Nigerian373 and her upcoming wedding!! And a big shoutout to lcsims who cheered me on to finish it, hopefully I am in time for her to use it in the beautiful Sims wedding she has planned! CC credits: skin by xmiramira, earrings, necklaces and bracelets by xelennsimblr, headwrap is a recolour by me here, hair is by ebonixsimblr, eyes by alfisims, nails by natalis, eyebags by tamo, nose overlay by sims4nexus, lipsticks, freckles by Pralinesims, eyebrows by msblue, poses by flowerchamber - please let me know if you want exact links to anything. Notes: Standalone recolour, basegame recolour, disabled for random, enabled for formal, situation and party as well as humans and aliens. Tagged as African and with correct colour schemes, and as long dress. TOU: Please do not claim as yours, re-distribute or re-upload (especially to paysites) and if you use it for anything please credit me by name (TheAfricanSim) and with a link to my original post on my tumblr here, and let me know as well. Tagging me (theafricansim) is optional but highly appreciated. Also, if you are interested in using the textures, I uploaded and shared many of the textures I used HERE.

I'm sometimes known as the Penta-continentalist. My mother is Asian-American-distantly Hispanic (Filipina, part Native American), she met a European man (mainly German, part French) who had immigrated to Australia. They met in their workplace in West Africa, where I was conceived, born and brought up. Then I moved to Spain and married a lovely Jewish man. So I was raised African but have an Australian passport, yet ethnically I'm Asian, European, American. I can pass for white, or Hispanic, or part Asian, or Jewish, or Arabic, or Mediterranean or South American. What race I look like is not important to me though. I love travelling and can live anywhere but I "most myself" at home in The Gambia, West Africa, where I was born, where I honeymooned, and where I shall die and be buried, Insha'allah. But I was happy to hear about AdonisPluto's Nigerian origins, I actually started a tumblr because whereas I did see quite a few African Americans, I found very few Simmers from the Motherland and I wanted to touch base and spread the love. For the record, I have traveled outside Africa too - various countries in Europe, Asia and also I spent a couple of months in Australia too and will probably touch base there again soon. Still - Mama Africa, she never leaves you and I can never leave her.
