Hi missmarch038 and welcome! You've come to right place to learn how to mod/create custom content! There is a comprehensive list of tutorials here link of all levels, you can of course also access a list of just CAS tutorials, Build tutorials, etc on the Tutorials board on the main page. And of course ask if you have any issues! Hello freelancebotanist, welcome to the forum! We're looking forward to see what you create! You might find some of these tutorials useful here here and if you want you can share your creations in your own studio here or post a link here! Hey aydeeen1 welcome! Great that you've started making your own custom content already and found it easy and enjoyable. Like I mentioned above, maybe you'd also consider creating a studio with your work, there's a lot of new helpful features and the feedback and support here is wonderful.

Hi marroland welcome to the forum! Wow, a jewelry maker, that's awesome! I certainly haven't seen enough jewelry in TS4, especially earrings which are my favourite. Perhaps you'd like to share links to some of your favourite creations here on our custom content link board, and hopefully maybe one day you have the time and inspiration to make something yourself, I'm sure you have some wonderful pieces in mind. Alternatively if there's something you'd really like to see in game that you don't know how to create and don't think you'll be able to for whatever reason, you can also request it here in the modding request board. Hi tulla great to have you here! I don't see your avatar, but you should be able to put one up by clicking on profile in the menu (it should be on your upper right) and then clicking on edit profile, and then clicking on the avatar tab. If you want to upload an image to use as an avatar bear in mind you will have probably have to upload an image to an external site like imgur, there's an explanation here. Don't be afraid to ask for help to make your own custom content, and feel free to browse the many helpful tutorials we have! Hi simour it's good to have you back! Hope there wasn't significant damage on your PC and that you could recover most of your stuff or that it wasn't vital! Did you have custom content uploaded that you could recover or was it all work related? Anyways, hopefully it's all fixed now. Maybe you could use some cloud storage for the most important things so that it doesn't get lost for the future. And no probs about being rusty haha! New things happening all the time, we all have to keep on our toes but in Spanish we say "he who had, retains", as in, if you knew how to do it once, even if you haven't done it in a long time, the skills are still stored away there, you just have to dust off the toolbox!

Hi dearthcadet and welcome! I'm sure you'll find new friends here! And I agree, it's funny how despite thousands of people creating custom content there is always a need and a special satisfaction when you can bring to life something you want in game instead of hoping someone will catch on and make it and that you will *someday* stumble across it! Hi lilaba great to have you here! Building houses is a wonderful place to start, it's probably what first brought me here too. If you want a suggestion on what to create first just as a trial that could be useful for you, I would say recolor a furniture piece you have in the game (e.g a closet, table, chair...) or decoration (painting, sculpture, potted plant...) following this recolor tutorial: Recolor tutorial Hi fairydsims welcome to S4S forums! It's always nice to have someone who's seen all the Sims series, I've only ever played TS4 so I'm quite curious to how it is a different experience for everyone. It's great you've already started creating. You can also share your creations here too, either creating your very own studio here, it's got a lot of cool new features like the download counter, tag cloud, etc, or also here in the custom content link board. I love historical cc so looking forward to see what you come up with!

Hi jemcrystal! Welcome and don't be intimidated by all the information. It is a lot I know, but it's also fun! I'm guessing you want to recolor eyelash custom content you have installed (I don't recall the main game having any eyelashes, unless you mean eyeliner or makeup to simulate eyelashes)? First of all, download and install the last version of Sims 4 Studio, you'll find it here: sims4studio.com/thread/1523/downloading-sims-4-studio. Then follow the instructions to recolor Create a Sim custom content here: sims4studio.com/thread/397/create-standalone-recolor-custom-contentIf you have any questions while doing that tutorial you can post your question there (if you are halfway through it might help to upload your package somewhere so someone can look at it), or in any case, at any stage you are MORE than welcome to ask anything you like if you get stuck or frustrated. Take your time and ENJOY!! It's a great thing you are doing. Once again, welcome. :D

I don't know if this is a possibility or if it has been suggested before, but I'd like to be able to add swatches to existing objects within the game (just like we can do with CAS) to de-clutter our menus. I like cursedbeasts's suggestions too, it would be helpful for where there is a set palette (EA's 18 hair colours) or a custom palette we use often. Also, where we can upload custom thumbnails for swatches etc it would maybe be good to have a little popup (maybe mouseover) saying what size/format the image we upload needs to be especially if there is "nothing in there" yet that we can export and base our thumbnail on.

I didn't see anything eyecatching in the trailer though I kind of like the idea of a family pack (and I like the activity tables there). I do want more family activity but rather than just "nicer objects or decor" I would like something like: - new traits (how about an Aging Gracefully one lol? someone who is a rebellious young man with Peter Pan syndrome, that later is bound for a middle age crisis and a Made My Nest moodlet lol?) - new events: family picnic, family pool day - new age group - it looked like there was a preteen in the trailer? - new skills (roller skating? cheerleading? baseball? water polo) - fun interactions with toddlers like playing in a waddling pool, playing hide and seek... and giving them a proper birthday party!! We can have a party with them blowing out the candles, but it's not an actual toddler birthday party. - also special interactions/relationships with cousins, aunts, grandparents... a lot of us like the idea of having big extended families and having cousin sleepovers, grandparents' golden anniversary, etc - new location/world, family venues, maybe a place for a family holiday or to celebrate a birthday.
Fitness... Hmm. Not particularly stimulating except for maybe some comfy snazzy clothes, and the family friendly sports I mentioned earlier - baseball, skating, maybe bicycle riding. Or stuff to play at a beach/pool. Or what I also mentioned - an ocean themed holiday world that is sports-friendly - water skiing, scuba diving, aquatic motorbikes, hang gliding, that sort of thing. We do need more swimsuits come to think of it, I think that despite getting pools and such in Get Together I don't remember any new swimwear (could be wrong though).
I was surprised they did that kind of trailer at all because I did not find it very exciting.

Sure orangemittens I'll try to find out what triggers it and if I find out any patterns that explain the cluttering, I'll post it here and let you all know. I don't have the "add columns to CAS" thing so it's not that, I have also read that deleting the thumbnail cache (which I do once in a while) fixes it, I'll try that too. As far as I can see sometimes they move off grid even "if" the elements in the row are not cc so it must be picking up on the hidden ones that ARE cc or whatever. Anyway, if I can pinpoint anything I'll make it public Thanks for getting back to me.

The only answer I know of is to remove unwanted swatches using My CC or My Projects. If the swatches aren't unwanted they could be moved to a separate standalone item. I wish I had a better answer. Thank you OM, it's good enough for me at the moment, I am downsizing CAS stuff so it is definitely achieveable thanks to My CC Magic and patience. Do you or anyone else know what is the magic number of swatches after which the automatic placing gets into "happy hour mode?"

I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't locate an answer - when there is a lot of CAS CC (I think especially if there are 20+ swatches) the thumbnails rearrange quite erratically, sometimes even moving off grid, is there a way to fix this via S4S or otherwise?

I read an EA survey about a pack exploring Death and thought of the song "Don't fear the Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult (going back a while, 1976), and then thought, this should be dedicated to my old friend @stevenssimsstuffltd, so here It is (lange nicht gelesen, oder?):

Welcome druindo, it's wonderful to have you here and glad to hear you've already got projects on your mind! Don't worry about judgement here, more than a few of us have a screw loose but we're a friendly bunch and value creativity and good will over most mundane things. As the great Robin Williams said, "“You're only given a spark of madness. You musn't lose it.” Welcome Nela Zulf how great that you've started a studio! It has some awesome stuff, I like the uniforms especially. Welcome Toonces (great nick!) it's good to see Appletini custom content creators, I haven't tried The Sims on my Apple Mac laptop yet. I'm glad you were able to run the batch fixes and are getting comfortable with using the program, it's really both a godsend and a fun "easel plaything" :D as I'm sure you'll find. I sketch often too though most is on paper and/or canvas, and a few through Photoshop, but never tried apps - do you use it on a tablet/pad/cellphone?

Hey @meihyr I'm glad you're back! I know what you mean about names - we "need" a name in social circumstances but at the same time, we are not our names, and as we grow, change and "meet ourselves", sometimes our old nicknames don't seem to "fit" any more... But too much seriousness for Thursday! I'm glad you found your way back, and "meihyr" sounds really cool! Hopefully you'll be inspired again really soon to start creating.
