modthesims.info/d/543012The mailbox and street lamp from this set do it. The mailbox actually became invisible EXCEPT for some shadows, but the street lamp has the same issue as in the OP. I do not remember if it always did or not but I am pretty sure it didn't.

Some of my custom content has this issue too, including unlocked versions of maxis objects.
What you're seeing is the ambient occlusion (it's what darkens the "corners" of objects/walls/combinations of the two), and it's visible through some maxis default assets too (mostly background assets- the steamboat is a particularly egregious example).
Why it happens, I don't know. Would be wonderful if this is something that can be batch-fixed as it's destroyed some of my CC.

ah, ok. I figured it might work different for CAS. The accessory I'm talking about is so small it'd be totally negligible anyway, lol

Let me make super HD textures for smaller CAS items?
This is how it works with objects (you can make a painting the size of a fist have a resolution so good you can scale it to the size of a house without losing detail) but I'm just wondering if there's a different "standard" (in-game, not community, it's for personal use) for CAS items that means this isn't a good idea?

Are there any programs that can do this for me or a way to do it in blender or something?

I see a comment on the specular guide from two years ago saying this is a "planned feature". How planned is it that it's been 3 years and it still isn't a feature, exactly? :x

Oh, I didn't realize the joint was a mesh thing, I thought it was part of the object/clothing itself. The ring turns red like it is supposed to, but in-game it's still floating around... Edit: Oops, I didnt remove the old joints! Lemme try that Edit again: I got it! :D Now if only I wasn't too lazy to figure out if I can make it shiny.

I tried to figure this out on my own but in-game it doesn't work. Here's what I did: 1. I wanted a left-hand-only ring (why the hell did they make rings exclusive to hands...) for the right hand 2. I cloned the left hand ring and extracted the mesh 3. I opened a right hand ring 4. I moved the left-hand ring's mesh to the right hand, and rotated and scaled it how I wanted 5. I textured it 6. I imported the new mesh to the right-hand ring 7. In-game, the ring just floats around my sim's head! I figured since I used a right-hand ring as a base the left-hand mesh would know what to do but apparently it doesn't, and I don't know what i have to do to make it hook to the right ring finger... www.dropbox.com/s/tg2mn0wj244ld4a/CervidantiRing.package?dl=0Here it is if anyone wants to look at it. The thumbnail in game is wrong too, it looks like a right hand with a dark mark on the finger.
