nickst3r You need this Nvidia DDS plugin to be able to open DDS files on photoshop as for the alpha channel, click on the Channels tab, then on this little icon: and then choose "New Channel" and click on "Okay"

Julie J thank you very much! I noticed that I also have UpLid, Toe and Shoulder in the Vertex Group list, should I transfer these too or isn't necessary? Or maybe I shouldn't have them at all in the shoes?

Hi and thank you for the tutorial! I have a question tho, do I have to transfer the bone weight of everything in the vertex group list or just the one that applies to my mesh, like L and R Foot if I'm doing a shoe?

Hi orangemittens, I want to completely remove the shine of my objects, so I tried to paint the alpha channel of the specular map black, but when I save it using the DTX5 option the alpha channel always disappears, however, if I use a very dark grey the alpha is saved, so I was wondering, can I use the version without an alpha channel or should I use the dark grey alpha channel option?

Hi OM, it's me again *blush* what if I want to change how many cuts a mesh has?
For example, I'm trying to convert this shelf that only has 2 cuts (one for the structure and one for the glass) but every shelf with glass that I tried to clone has at least 3 cuts, like the retail display. So is it possible to change the cuts to avoid crashes and errors with the conversion?

Hi OM, how are you? Thank you for another great tutorial, this forum along with the S4S tool is so helpful, I couldn't never thank you guys enough. Now to my question, I'm trying to recolor a CC, for personal use only, tho the original creator does allow recolors, and I came across with the following problem: As you can see in the image #1 (the left one) there's a glitch in the shadow bellow the neck, the same doesn't happen with other shirts as you can see on image #2, I noticed however, that the problem is with the mesh itself, the original mesh has the same glitch. So I was wondering if you know what should I do to fix it? I'm sorry if this is not the right place to ask it, but I haven't found a thread for CAS CC help, does such thread exist, if it does where can I find it? Here's the original mesh in case you wanna take a look at it. Thank you in advance

It worked only partially for me, now my female sims don't shower with all the clothes like before but they still shower with that default orange panties. Any ideas on how to fix that?

Hi, I'm trying to covert a bed from sims 3 but I'm coming across with the following problem, the bed is taller than the one I'm trying to clone, and idk if I'm wrong but all the sims 4 bed seems to have the same high? so my question is, is it possible to make the bed I'm converting playable and so the sims lay down in the right high? I tried to move the slots up but unless I'm missing a slot or something else, it didn't work, when my sim goes to sleep he lays down basically in the middle of the mattress, bellow where he was suppose to

thank you zaburi and X. I do have a solid black background on my tattoos, I guess my mistake was to think that I could leave the white part in the skull and bird, when in reality I couldn't, the alpha layer doesn't do all the work, meaning removing the white from the image. Any ideas on the skin overlay issues?

the alpha. see how the texture is pitch black like i said? now you do all the work in the alpha channel. the darker to grey you go the more transparent and the whiter the more opaque the tat will be on the skin. the shadows you see is really the transparent parts of the tat on the skin. it's pretty tricky to do which is why when i make black ink tats i just keep them 1 transparency :P thank you X, I understand what you mean. I tried working with the alpha channel but I'm having the following problems: As you can see, apparently, my alpha channel looks fine right? And since it looks fine on S4S I thought it was okay, but when I entered to test in game it doesn't look how it should, I can see the white parts, what did I do wrong? Here's how I saved the file: Also, when I try to use this tattoo on a custom skin it looks faded as you can see in the picture bellow, and I tested another custom tattoo (not made by me) and it works just fine with the custom skin. What would be the problem here?

brujah - I meant like this tattoo: So I would like to know how, 1) get the black pixelated background behind the tattoo in the DDS like on picture 1? 2) how to make the alpha channel like on picture 2, I see that the "shadow" I was talking about is grey and not totally white and this tutorial only teaches how to make it all white to use it on the alpha channel, I'm pretty good with photoshop but I have no idea how I could do that easily, so any tips on that? x you said "and create a new layer and paint it all black than use soft light to overlay it over the dark so the alpha will look right." do you mean in the alpha or just in the normal rbg channel of the tattoo?

Hi, thank you for the tutorial, it's very helpful! I was wondering if there is some trick to create tattoos with shadows in it like those? is there a trick I need to use in the alpha layer? also how can I make the tattoos look better? like, I have seen some DDS files where the tattoo has a black background, sort of like most of the alpha hairs have it, how can I make that background? and it helps with the quality of the tattoo or smth?
