adamular yes, you need to put the white image with the .mask black to avoid the specular of other items show up on yours. But if I do not want the item to have any shine I just leave the overlay blank? If you use a "Image.mask.png" all black, nothing in the mesh should shine. Also, I mispoke, the "white image" ("Image.png") should be transparent.

Hi keenahmee , can I ask you why your specular is black? If you want to avoid any shine you should create a 512x1024 transparent png (I think for dds the trasparency is the same) and a 512x1024 completely black mask. Also consider that some game tops (if not all) tend to show the specular on top of the bottoms even if they are tucked in.

AleNikSimmer Your reply helped me to figure out what to do, i really wanted to remove shine AND to make the bottoms intact for shining of the tops, to do so, one should make the png black, but the mask.png must repeat the mask of the diffuse texture. Thank you)

I’ve been trying to remove the specular shine from CAS items without success. I’ve tried various combinations of transparent and black mask files, as PNG and DDS, but whatever I try, the flippin’ shine is still there! Well, I’m flipped if I know what to try next so I wonder if someone could look over the following check list and suggest where I might be going wrong.
* clone item - sheer mesh, french knickers * import my own textures .dds, delete original swatch - save * import specular image, 512x1024 transparent .png * import specular image mask, 512x1024 solid black .png - save
I’m using the latest Candy Apple S4S and PhotoShop. Ta!

Does this work for makeup as well? I'm trying to make a duplicate of the rhinestone eye shadow from "luxury party stuff" as a tattoo layer so that I can use another layer of makeup on my mermaids and other occult types. I exported the two specular images from the game and imported them back into the tattoo layer that I created, but when I opened the game, it doesn't appear to be shiny, sadly (but the textures transferred correctly).

I think some images need to be reuploaded? They show up blurred with the company's icon on it.

Turns out your diffuse is too small. I changed the size to 1024 wide 2048 high and the problem went away. Nice lipstick, by the way. I'm keeping your file for myself, lol.

Hello, big thanks for the tutorials. I have now somewhat understood it with all the colors and their effect. I made a cup (accessories) with red a bit shinier and with white it looks like it is made of metal (which I wanted) I wanted to create the same high shine on a glass (accessories), but it doesn't matter if I use white or for example green, it has only a slight shine. How can I make the glass shiny? I have taken png. I would be very happy about help. Sorry for my english, a translator had to help me

This tutorial does not work. I have tried for hours, changing the color from different shades of green, opaque, I changed the level of transparency and nothing is working. Does this need to be updated again or what? I tried paint.net and photoshop
