At frostious, I was able to get the duck to show up by itself as a deco object in S4S. If you can attach the package file I can take a look at it and let you know how to fix it.

I can't find the option to attach things, but here's the link to my failure of a duckie. For some reason when I import the mesh into S4S, instead of replacing the mesh of the books it just sort of...mashes them together? EDIT: Managed to figure it out, I'd made a mistake with the cut number after all!

I am glad you were able to figure it out, it is usually the most simple things that trip us up.

Hello,
I am totally new to CC making (except from recoloring using Caster V2). I want to create my own meshes, and i am getting there (and i actually have no clue if i am on the right topic for this), but i am having issues understanding how to get/create the LOD1 and LOD2 is there any (other) topics about this here? or can someone point me into the right direction? Again, sorry if i am at the wrong topic, i might be new to making CC, but i am even newer to this forum :p Anyways thanks in advance

Well, it can be done! I knew it could. g1g2 did a laptop conversion from TS3 to TS4. Leniad helped me with this one, and this tutorial helped out a great deal too. Electronics being different from other objects...it got really confusing, but I am not an expert. There is some fine tuning to do on the laptop. As you can see, some re-coloring stuff has to go on, but I can spend time on that. I am still trying to figure out in the texture mesh which part goes to which in the viewport. It is functionable. He just types on the laptop...lol But he is still able to learn the writing skill and do all of the other interactions. So, some more tuning on how to keep the lid open or for it to be opened by the sim. That is something I will have to figure out. g1g2 was able to keep his lid open, if i remember correctly. This is a TS3 to TS4 conversion of the modern laptop from university life using the ghostwriter desktop computer. g1g2 used the basegame of TS3 for his. I am feeling so proud right now!!!! orangemittens thank you so much for your tutorials and especially this one. I know how difficult it has been for you to write all of these tutorials for us. I wrote one of my own and it took hours for the typing and getting the images just so. Thank you for your frustrated moments, the sweat and the tears you poured into this work. I do appreciate it. Hopefully, in a few days we can have more than one laptop in the game....whew. O noes! what if a sims5 comes out?! We better have laptops then. I am so loving you guys right now...*tears* noodle dance time. and remember....just keep simming!!!!!

In the Sims 3, I believe that the modern laptop you are working on had an animation that allows Sims to actually open the laptop or an animation that opens it when Sims start it up. To get that in the Sims 4 will require you creating the animation for it. So far, in the Sims 4, the best bet will be to separate the mesh to an open version. I had once tried to convert this to Sims 2 but lost interest in it. I still have the file that I separated and made it into an open version. If you are interested I can send it to you

We will have another laptop yet! woo hoo BTW, do you know which parts are which on the texture mesh? I can figure it out, but if you already know, I would accept the potatoes with the meat.

I have a problem in my game... i followed the steps and I can see my personalized object in the game, the problem is that the mesh used as base (the shelf) now it doesnt exist in my game, I dont want the things that already exists in my game to dissapear :( ... How can I have both (in this case the shelf and my object) in the game?

Flakiizziima you need to click "Create 3D Mesh" you must have clicked the override option. If not then would you send a picture also your blend file and the shelf you choose to use as your base please.

"Then select Create 3D Mesh under the Object button."
The Mac version (Candy Apple) doesn't have the option to "Create 3D Mesh"
Mine:
So, what do I do?
